You are a fisherman

Today in church I was moved by the service. The verse wasn’t all that moving. BUT the meaning behind it really resonated with me.

Mark 1:14-20

Jesus Calls the First Disciples

16 And passing along by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 And immediately they left their nets and followed him. 19 And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zeb′edee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20 And immediately he called them; and they left their father Zeb′edee in the boat with the hired servants, and followed him.

To the naked eye this is a verse about Jesus calling the Disciples to the lord. And of course it is. To me this verse is about being who you are right now because you were called to be.

My entire life all I have ever wanted to do was help people. I have found myself struggling professionally because I didn’t feel like I was doing “enough.” But honestly what is enough? It took me a long time to figure out the answer to this question. Enough is getting out of bed in the morning and putting your best foot forward. Enough is embracing the situation that you are in daily. Enough is saying hi to everyone you come into contact with.

I want to emphasize that last sentence.

“Enough is saying hi to everyone you come into contact with.”

You saying hi, or hello, or How’s it going (if your in ny) could be the tide that changes them for the entire day. Saying hello is so powerful that it can literally make or break you for a period of time.

So to bring it all back around, Be a fisherman and cast your net wide. You can help the people around you by just being enough.

Origin Story

What is TSS? Obviously it stands for “The Shit Show.” But what does that mean? TSS is the thought that everything happens for a reason. We all become who we are because of the situations we have been provided with. Its not destiny, its not faith, its becoming a product of the environment that we are given.

When did your shit show begin?

Mine was on September 17 2006. The day my grandfather passed away. I lost a piece of me that day, one that I will never be able to replace. But this isn’t a sob story about the loss of a loved one, If you want to hear that you can check out episode 1 of the TSSpodcast. I cry its a real doozy.

By understanding what event set you down the path that you are on you allow yourself to have a better understanding of who you are. You start to understand why you make the decisions you make and why you are able to endure the things you can endure. Your most traumatic event can be the thing that gave you the strength to carry on.

This is just a small taste of the things that I have to say. Im not the best writer but I will always be open and honest about everything.

Thanks for stopping by,
